TRATHEN’S WIN CHAMPIONSHIP COLLEGE DEFEAT NELSON In the women’s cricket championship continued on Saturday College 40, defeated Nelson 35.. With only the Trathen’s-Wakeiield match to be played, Trathen’s have won the championship. The points gained by the clubs are: Trathen’s 40, College 21, Nelson 20, Wakefield 11. The College Club is to be congratulated in being runners up in their first season. One outstanding feature of the young College team is their smart fielding and the speed with which they change over between each over. COLLEGE V. NELSON This game was a low scoring one. College batting first, scored 40 (B. Claughton 14. V. Urquhart 9, K. Berry 5, A. Greenslade 4). J. McDonald took five wickets for 4 runs off 7 overs, E. Field one for 9. M. Haase three for 18 and M. Patterson one for 8. Nelson found the runs just as hard to get and failed to reach the College total by 5 runs. Nelson 35 (E. Field 15. D. Stapp not out 6). J. McCormish took three for 13 off 11 overs, A. Greenslade two for 15, C. Lucas two for 0. P. Thomason one for 2.
