The fear that Germany in the event of war would attempt to blockade the > Soviet’s ice-free ports in the Arctic is stimulating intense activity in the building of a powerful Northern fleet and the organisation of impregnable defences on Kola Peninsula, according to M. Dushenov, Chief of the Northern Fleet, who added that the defences are already sufficient to defeat an aggresr sor's plans.
