Japanese troops landed from warships at Tsingtao. advancing westward to join other columns thrusting through Shantung. It is disclosed that the Chinese attempted to block the harbour, synking nine ships of the Chinese third fleet. The Japanese claim that 50 planes raided Nanching. damaging the military establishment. A small Japanese force landed at Chungshan. a*lttle to the west of Macao Island opposite Hong Kong.
