OBITUARY
MISS MARIE McEACHERN Many friends in the Dominion, especially former pupils of Nelson Girls' College, and Nelson residents generally, will learn with deep regret of the death of Miss Marie McEachern. which occurred suddenly in New Plymouth last week. Miss McEachern had not been in good health for some time but her death was not expected.
Miss McEachern. who was a daughter of the late Mr J. McEachern of Nelson, was educated at Nelson Girls’ College, where her ability was recognised by teachers and pupils.
After graduating Master of Arts, she took to teaching and soon joined *he staff of her old school, where she was a popular and much-valued teacher for 21 years. She was for many years first assistant, and during the absence in England of the principal, Miss Lorimer. she was acting principal. Because of ill health, she resigned her position in Nelson some years ago. For a time she lived with her brother in Ashburton, and latterly she was staying with her sister, Mrs F. S. Johns, in New Plymouth, where her death occurred.
