CONSULAR REPRESENTATIONS
PRINCIPLE OF PARITY TO BE INSISTED ON BY THE SOVIET [British Official Wireless] (Received 13th January, 10.15 a.m.) RUGBY. 12th January. The Soviet Government is understood to have notified representatives of foreign Governments at Moscow of Rs decision in future to insist on the principle of parity in consular representation. There are at present two British consular posts in Russia and the Soviet has only one consular representative >n Britain. So far as Britain is concerned. Russian desires could easily be met by closing the British Consulate at Leningrad.
