WEDDING

ADDIS—BROWN A wedding of interest in shipping and other circles was celebrated at Christ Church Cathedral, Nelson, on Tuesday evening last when Phyllis Maud, only daughter of Mr and Mrs Irvine Brown, Richardson street, arid granddaughter of the late Mr Alexander Brown, a founder of the Anchor Shipping and Foundry Coy., was married to Harold John, only son of Mr and Mrs J. R. Addis, of Auckland. The church was beautifully decorated with bowls of pink hydrangeas and sweet peas The ceremony was performed by the Very Rev. P. B. Haggitt, Dean of Nelson, and Mr Clougiiton was at the organ The bride, who was escorted up the aisle by her father, was preceded by her four bridesmaids. The bride looked charming in a gown of palest pink georgette over taffeta cut on early Victorian lines, the tight-fitting pointed bodice falling softly in front and buttoned down the back with tiny buttons, and a very full gathered skirt, the back falling into a graceful train. The tulle veil, hung in a pretty cloud-like effect, had a head band of tiny pink orange blossoms and the pink early Victorian posy matched the period of the frock. She wore a dainty string of pears, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridesmaids, were Misses Lois Mills (Blenheim), cousin of the bride (chief), Emily Addis (Auckland), sister of the bridegroom, Alison Littlejohn (Nelson) and Olive Christophers (Gisborne). They wore charming retingote frocks of pink georgette over taffeta of a deeper shade than the bride’s. They also wore matching head bands and carried posies to tone and pretty little beaded bags, the gift of the bridegroom, The bridegroom was attended by Mr W. A. C. Smith as best man and Messrs W. D. Williams and Ivan and Noel Brown, brothers of the bride, as groomsmen. * During Ihe signing of the register, Miss Noni Moore sang the lovely solo, “I’ll Walk Beside You.” After the ceremony the guests were entertained at a dinner party at the Hotel Nelson by the parents of the bride, the tables being decorated with pink sweet peas and pink candles. Mr and Mrs Brown, assisted by Mr and Mrs Addis, received the guests, Mrs Brown in a model gown of floral crepe de chene and Mrs Addis wore a handsome frock of black cloque crepe relieved with white. Later the guerts were entertained at the home of the bride’s parents in Richardson street, where the beauti-. ful presents, including many cheques, were displayed. The youngs couple left for a tour of the South Island by car., the gift of the bride's mother and father, the bride wearing a travelling costume of old rose cloque crepe with brown hat and accessories.
