BLACKSMITH CHARGED WITH ASSAULT

WELLINGTON, This Day. John William Wellington, cook at the

Colombo Hotel, was taken to hospital from Willis street at 1.10 a.m. suffering from severe head injuries; and in the

Magistrate’s Court before Mr Stilwell, S.M., James Patrick Shivnan, aged *lO years, blacksmith, was charged with assaulting Wellington so as to cause actual bodily harm.

Detective-Sergeant Doyle said the injured man was alleged to have been

struck with a bottle. A remand till 12th January was granted. Bail in £SO was allowed.
