INCREASED FARMING COSTS
MARLBOROUGH PROTEST ' [By Telegraph—Press Association] BLENHEIM, This Day. Increased farming costs were adversely commented upon at the Blenheim branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union which resolved to forward the following resolution to the Minister of Labour the Hon. H. T. Armstrong: “This branch protests most emphatically against the increased costs to primary producers caused by raising wages for daily and agricultural workers.” The meeting also resolved to forward a remit to the Dominion Executive of the Union advocating the institution of a form 'of apprenticeship for inexperienced lads between 15 and 17 years of ' age desiring to learn dairying or agricultural work. A wage of 12s 6d a week and keep was suggested for the first six months, followed by award rates.
