The cyclist Opperman arrived at Sydney from Fremantle, covering 3017 miles in 13 days 10 hours 11 minutes, beating W. Read’s record by 5 days 8 hours 31 minutes. Police cars piloted the cyclist through the city, which was crowded with welcoming thousands.
