FIRST DIRECT SHIPMENT
• i I i "*■ FROZEN MEAT FOR THE EAST (By Telegraph —Press Association! AUCKLAND, 17th November, The first shipment of New Zealand frozen meat to be made direct to the East left Auckland this afternoon by the South Pacific Line motor-ship Maetsuyeker, consigned to Singapore. Comprising 75 fat lamb carcases, the shipment is regarded as an important step in the extension of the Dominion's trade with eastern countries. In addition to frozen meat, the Maetsuycker also carried the largest consignment of j butter the line has taken from New Zealand. This is being forwarded to Singapore and Saigon. The cargoes of meat and butter filled the ship’s refrigerated chamber to capacity.
