SENTENCES AT WELLINGTON [By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, This Day. The following prisoners were sentenced by the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, in the Supreme Court to-day: Frederick Jennings (20), labourer, assault with intent to commit criminal assault, three years’ Borstal treatment; < Maxwell Ernest Butler (25), mechanic, unlawful conversion of a motor car at Hamilton, two years’ reformative de- tr tention, to be concurrent with twelve p< months’ reformative detention now te being served; George Clarence Wilson ;i, (42), clerk and cook, forging- postal note, 15 months’ reformative detention. Arthur Haig (20), shoe finisher, for st failing to stop after an accident (two Li charges) was fined £2O on first and ad- as mitted to two years’ probation on the cc second. His Honour said if prisoner fo were a person of mature years he would to not hesitate to send him to gaol. The s t, provisions of last year’s Act were being enforced in the Supreme Court and the Magistrate’s Court. Prisoner was prohibited from driving during his probation, and ordered to pay costs of the *- prosecution, £2 ss. Revel Michalick, picture operator, Dannevirke, for indecent assault on a nc female at Raetihi (foi/r charges), re- a ceived fifteen months’ reformative de- pi' tention.
