FARMER FOUND GUILTY OF CATTLE-STEALING fßr Taletrraph-Press Association! BLENHEIM, 17th November. Leonard Alma Turner, farmer, Tinline, was found guilty by a jury this afternoon on a charge of stealing throe head of cattle at Tinline on Ist March. The case was first heard at the last sessions of the Supreme Court at Blenheim, when a jury failed to agree, and to-day the jury deliberated from 11.50 a.m. till 4.45 p.m. and made a strong recommendation to mercy. “In view of the laxity shown in the district in regard to the earmarking and branding of stock, we recommend that a system should be adopted making the marking of cattle compulsory," the jury stated. Prisoner was remanded by Mr .Justice Northcroi't till to-morrow for sentence;.
