WEDDING

WILKINSON—H AIMJI XU The marriage was soleiimiserf at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Hamilton, on the evening of October 50th, between Irena Margaret, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. It. Harding, of “Wharoonga," Hamilton, and Cyril Frederick, only sou of Mr and Mrs A. N. Wilkinson, of Nelson. The ceremony was performed by Archdeacon T. ,T. Smith, of Nelson (unclp of the bride) and Mr E. 11. Apthoi'p played flic wedding music. The church had been most artistically decorated by friends of the bride with cream arum lilies and golden marigolds. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a beautiful grown of magnolia satin brocade cut on very graceful lines, the skirt falling to a deep fanshaped train, and the long, close-fitting sleeves ending in a peak over the hand. A soft satin bow finished the high neckline and her exquisite Swiss embroidered veil fell to form a second train from a halo of orange blossom buds. She carried a bouquet of cream roses and lily-of-lhe-valley. The bridesmaids were the Misses Fay Harding (sister of the bride), Moina Lawry, of Auckland; Monvena Burke, of Matamata; Phyllis Garland, of Cam-

bridge; and Norma Garland, of Cam-, bridge (cousins of the bride). They j wore similar picturesque frocks of ivory : taffeta in Victorian style, with buttons’ from the neck to the hemline at the back, gold flowers relieving the neckline, and gold coronets on their hair. They carried bouquets of roses shading from ! cream to gold, with gold trails of Ghent i azalea petals. Mr Alec Mollit, of Nelson, was the best man, and Messrs Athol Harding j (brother of the bride) and Keith Lawry j (cousin of the bride) were the grooms-j men. Messrs Hollo Harding, Max Gar- j land, and John Garland were the ushers. ; Following the ceremony a reception j was held at the C’entreway Rooms, the colour scheme again being cream and gold. The tables were bright with iicmesias, lupins, Iceland poppies, stocks and orange blossom, and a wedding bell of guelder roses was suspended over the > bridal couple. Guelder roses also trails- j formed the pillars of the room. The ! guests were received by Hie bride’s mo- : llicr, who wore a smart frock of smoky: blue lace with platinum bead relief, and hat to lone, and carried a posy of pink roses and gerberas. She was assisted 1 by the bridegroom’s mother, who was wearing a frock of black lace with black j bat, and carried a posy of red roses and i carnations. Incidental music by the Con- 1 treway Orchestra was much appreciated, j When Mr and Mrs C. F.
