LOYAL HOWARD LODGE At the fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Howard Lodge the N.G. Bro. C. Parsons presided over a large attendance of members and visitors. Officers present were I.P.N.G. Bro. R. Mcßae, V.G. Bro. J. M. Black, E.S. Bro. G. Scott, F.S. Bro. M. L. Anderson, Treasurer Bro. A. T. Johnson, Lecture Master Bro. G. L. Ilousiaux. After t’.c correspondence had been dealt with and sick pay and accounts passed for payment, the Most Noble Grand declared the Lodge adjourned for the purpose of holding a meeting of the Social Committee. It was resolved that the Committee immediately proceed with arrangements for holding the children's Christmas Tree and that the function take place in the lodge room on the 9th December. On Lodge being resumed it was again mentioned by Bro. G. S. Coleman that a cricket team representing the Nelson district would be travelling to Wellington to play the Wellington Oddfellows and that the team would leave Nelson on Boxing Night. 26th December and return the following Thursday. Any players wishing to join the team should get in touch with Bro. Coleman as soon as possible. A recital contest with the Loyal Nelson Lodge was to have been held but owing to unforeseen circumstances the | contest had to be abandoned. The Most Noble Grand extended a i hearty welcome to the many visitors from the Loyal Nelson Lodge and to | Bro. Harney of Loyal Westport Lodge. ! Bro. Harney has for over 50 years tak- : en an active part in the work of his lodge and is still keenly interested in the affairs of the Order. . The Lodge being closed in due form j supper was served and members cni joyed the rest of the evening playing I bowls and other games. ODDFELLOWS’ DANC* : A very successful carnival dance was I held in the Oddfellows’ Hall by the So- ■ cial Committee of the Loyal Howard Lodge. Good prizes were given the win- ; ners of the Early Bird and Monte Carlo and the excellent programme mostly ! of old time dances was ably directed jby tire M.C. Bro. G. L. Housiaux. The j floor was in good order for dancing and j the supper served by the committee was much appreciated. ; Tlie music was supplied by Mr I-I. 1 Williams’ Dance Band and an extra waltz was played by Mr A. Gascoyne.
