Apprehension that the visit of Lord Halifax, Lord President of the Council, might be postponed as the result of Nazi anger concerning the “irresponsible British Press' and a German news agency hint that it might be better if it did not occur in view of the atmosphere raised by British Press forecasts, has been allayed after an of-
ficial news agency announcement that Lord Halifax will arrive at Berlin next Wednesday. Attacks against British and French commentators continue. The “Volkischer Beogachter” says the manoeuvres of Marxist trouble-makers to prevent Lord Halifax’s visit have failed. “Der Montag” says the reason for the postponement hint was the fact that British and French newspapers once again opened a campaign of vile fraud and infamous agitation against the Fuehrer's policy This well-poisoning was deliberately calculated to disturb German relations with Britain and other countries. TIME OF DEPARTURE (Received 16th November, 9.20 a.m.) LONDON, 15th November. Lord Halifax will leave for Berlin at 2 p.m. to-morrow. DENIALS BY WHITEHALL (Received 16th November, 10.5 a.m.) LONDON, 15th November. Whitehall denies that Lord Halifax is gong to Berlin bearing instructions and a long list of questions. The visit is purely private, but naturally he will establish contact with the German leaders. Whitehall also denies suggestions of friction between Mr Anthony Eden, the Foreign Minister, and Lord Halifax over the visit.
