SUBSIDY OX DUNTAB CLINIC DONATIONS APPOINTMENT OF TEACHERS The Nelson Education Board's monthly meeting was concluded yesterday afternoon. The Education Department advised that the subsidy on contributions towards the cost of erecting dental clinics had been restored on the basis of £2 for £l. The Auckland Point committee applied for a special grant towards incidental expenses. The matter was held over until the next meeting. The New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association advised of the programme for the "Lcarn-to-Swim” Week in December. Information from the Health Department regarding the provision cl' separate dental clinics for schools in Nelson City is to be forwarded to the centres concerned. Mr F. A Carling reported on the Children’s Exhibition of Art recently held in Nelson. He pointed out the pleasing features of the exhibition. A number of the entries were on view in the Education Board room. The Collingwood District Schools’ Sports Association invited the board members to the annual fixture on the 20th November. The Nelson Central School committee advised of the annual Parents’ Day. The Pakawau committee applied for a special grant towards incidental expenses. A grant of £5 was made. The Police Department reported on damage done to the Waitahu school by rifle lire. The Department is to be thanked fo- its attention to the matter. The tender of Messrs Page and Sons.
