The weekly shoot of Ihe Nelson Defence Rifle Club was held on the Seabourne Range on Saturday last in very hot weather On account of counterattractions. the attendance was not as large as usual, but those who were prej sent had an enjoyable shoot under mI teresting conditions. i The conditions were 10 shots at each ' of 300 and 500 yards for Mr N. Mansi sen’s trophy. I At 300 yards a light wind from the south west did not cause very much I concern, but when shooting at 500 yards i commenced a change to northerly made 'conditions puzzling, j Top scorer for the day was Rifleman I W. G. Day, who shot brilliantly, sccur- ! Rig 4t; and 40. a point above the standard at each range. He just missed the ' possible at 500 yards his tenth shot 1 being an inner. Rifleman Day's card | read: 300.vrds. 5554555545—48: 500yds. I 5555555554—-40. Day thus secured the I leg-in for the trophy and also holds ! the "A" grade Feathers, C. Batchelor takes the "B" grade Feathers. The competition next Saturday is at SOO and 900 yards for Mr Manssen's trophy, while 27th November has been ! set aside fur the Nelson District Championship meeting, which will be fired !on the Sea bourne Range.
