SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP WAKATU V. ATHLETIC GOOD SCORING IN SATURDAY’S MATCH The Wakatu v. Athletic fixture was commenced at the Park on Saturday. Wakatu, batting first, scored 296 runs for seven wickets. JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP HOSPITAL DEFEAT VICTORY Hospital and Victory played an enjoyable game at Stoke on Saturday in the A grade junior competition. Batting first Victory made a bad start against the accurate bowling of MeMurray and Winnie, losing 4 wickets for 4 runs and had only 20 on the board for 6. Reid and Garguillo then became associated and by good cricket carried the score to 58 for 7. Victory being all out for 63. McMurray five for 20, Winnie two for 27 bowled well for Hospital. In reply Hospital reached 145 in spite of many bowling changes, useful scores being made by Clark 14, Sherlock 38, Hibbert 27, Crawshaw not out 13. Shand two for 34 and McNamara four for 8 were Victory’s most successful howlers. In their second innings Victory did better. Reid and Garguillo again batted well with 26 not out and 13 respectively. When time was called the score was 96 for 7 wickets. Thus Hospital got a four point win on the first innigs. Bowling for Hospital McMurray two / for 35, Winnie four for 23 and Sherlock one for 16. The game continued until 7 p.m. owing to Victory’s late arrival and it is hoped that teams will endeavour to start their games according to scheduled time. MAITAI DEFEAT UNITED ' Maitai defeated United by 5 wickets on the Botanies on Saturday. After the game Mr Bell, captain of the United team congratulated the Maitai Club on their performance of playing three games and obtaining three 6 point wins. United, first innings, 67 (Blue 10, Goodwich 14, Bell 13, Scott 13 not out); second innings 97 (Ward 17, Blue 14, Bell 2G). Bowling for Maitai, Goodman five for 16 and three for 32, Taylor five for 29 and one for 38, Townsend four for 16. Maitai, first innings 111 (J. Goodman Hf Taylor 12, Gamboni 25, R. Goodman 30, Wilson 12 not out); second innings 62 for 5 wickets (J. Goodman 22, Taylor 10). Bowling for United: Ward three for 24 and one for 15, Bell five for 20 and two for 12, Goochvich two for 19 and two for IG.
