HERRING INDUSTRY IN BRITAIN
APPEAL TO THE GOVERNMENT [United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph— Copy right i LONDON, 18th October. More than 1000 representatives of the herring fish industry, including fishermen, Scots fishergirls and fishing port members of Parliament, at a mass meeting at Great Yarmouth appealed for Government funds to save the industry, which they claimed was doomed by the increased costs of production and subsidised foreign empetition. The Clyde fishermen are supporting the Yarmouth appeal and demand the abolition of the Herring Industry Board, which it was claimed failed to obtain markets, while its restrictions were useless.
