Heavy, soaking rain fell during the week-end over most of New South Wales, benefiting the wheat crops, which are now expected to reach the estimated yield of between 45,000,000 and 50,000,000 bushels. Rain is still falling in the southern parts and tire rivers are rising. Reports from Melbourne state that tiie whole of Victoria has been drenched. The rivers everywhere are swollen and there is serious danger o! floods The greater part of South Australia had bountiful rains during the weekend. DAMAGE IN YAHRA VALLEY (Received 19th October, 11.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. Continuous rains have caused serious flooding in central and eastern Victoria. A gigantic wall of water is approaching Kooweerup in Gippsland, and a special train lias been rushed to the town to evacuate the inhabitants. Floods in the Yarrn Valley caused heavy losses of stock and serious damage to farms, many homes near Melbourne being inundated.
