SINKING OF CHINESE JUNKS
INQUIRY AT HONG KONG JAPANESE CONSUL-GENERAL IGNORES INVITATION (Received 19th Oclobfcr, 10.55 a.m.) HONG KONG, 18th October: An inquiry into the sinking of the Chinese junks last month was opened. The Japanese Consul-General ignored the invitation to attend. Fourteen survivors, who were witnesses, were unable to swear that the attacking submarine v/as Japanese. The exhibits included shrapnel splinters and bullets extracted from the wounded.
