UOVEDALE V. WAKEFIELD LOW SCORING IN FIRST DAY’S PLAY The Waimca Cricket Association commenced its club championship games on Saturday At Dovedale the Wakefield team commenced a game with Dovedale. The wicket was in failorder though it was inclined to be tricky where it had been soaked with water. The outfield wa~ slow, and very seldom would a carpet shop produce a boundary. Dovedale won the toss and elected to bat. After a good second wicket partnership between Fowler and llawkcs the team collapsed before flic bowling of Davies and Newt Baigent. M. Fowler top scored with (50. playing an aggressive innings as also did Hawkes. Davies bowled well throughout, always being difficult to score from. Wakefield collapsed in their first innings. being all out for 25 runs. N. Hawkes was almost unplayable, securing seven wickets for 10 runs off 10 overs. Dovedale in the second innings had scored 56 runs for four wickets at ihe close of the day's piny.
