TRIBUTES IN PARLIAMENT |Bv Telegraph - Press Association! WELLINGTON, 11th September. Tributes to the memory of legislators and former legislators who had died during the recess were paid in the House of Representatives yesterday. Resolutions moved by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, and seconded by the Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Adam Hamilton, were carried, recording their distinguished and faithful public services and the sympathy of the House with their relatives. As a mark of respect the House adjourned un'til Tuesday afternoon. Formal business was taken before the tributes. Sympathetic reference was made to the memory of the following:— The Hon. G. W. Russell, a former member of the House of Representatives and for some years a Minister of the Crown. Sir Frederic Lang, a former member and Speaker of the House of Representatives and a former member of the Legislative Councvil. The Hon. L. M. Isitt, a member of the Legislative Council and a former member of the House of Representatives. Mr J. McC. Dickson, a former member of the House of Representatives. Mr C. Hall, a former member of the House of Representatives. Dr. W. A. Chappie, a former member of the House of Representatives, who later sat in the British House of Commons. Mr J. MacGregor, a former member of the Legislative Council. IN THE UPPER HOUSE Sympathetic references to the deaths of the Hon. Sir Frederic Lang, the Hon. L. M. Isitt, the Hon. J. MacGregor and the Hon. G. W. Russell were also made in the Legislative Council. Tributes were paid to the part each had played in the public life of New Zealand, and motions of condolence with the relatives were passed. As a mark of respect the Council adjourned until Wednesday next.
