AUDIENCE UNDISTURBED
Was the audience really disturbed when the lilm being shown in an English provincial town caught lire? Not at all. First of till a few people left, and then the management took charge and persuaded the others to keep thenseats until repairs could he c/Tccled. So the families settled down, and then the evening papers arrived with the news of a big football match. The papers were bought largely and the audience forgot all about the fire and went on reading until the manager made the reluctant announcement that the damage was beyond immediate repair. Slowly and sadly the people filed out.
