“YOUR PRIVATE HEALTH CAMPAIGN ”

The “Lifebelt” The “lifebelt” is the troublesome roll of fat which occasionally encircles the lower part of the chest. Sometimes it is referred to as a “spare tyre”—a very descriptive name; but it is a spare you could do without! Here is an exercise that will assist you to shed the surplus tissue. Stand with feet astride and arms stretched out sideways in line with your shoulders. Bend down and touch the left foot with the right hand, flinging the left arm far back behind you. Stretch up again, and repeat to the other side, touching the right foot with the left hand. Repeat up to twenty-four times each side and do the movements vigorously. If bending down makes you feel dizzy, try the same movement while sitting on the floor with legs straight and apart. The important thing is to bend toward the toes and twist the body at the same time. The trunk rolling mentioned in the last article will also prove helpful.—Jean Macdonald.
