[United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] NEW YORK, 22nd June. Mrs Helen Tiernan, who pleaded guilty to murdering her daughter, has been sentenced to a term of imprisonment of twenty years. The police stated in May that Mrs Tiernan, aged 25, a widowed embroidery worker, had confessed that she killed her daughter, whose body was found in the woods near a New York suburban settlement, and attempting to kill her son. Believing that both were dead, she sprinkled petrol on the brushwood, ignited it, and fled.
