According to the newspapers, the Springboks have not yet recovered iioin their decisive defeat last Saturday. There have been repeated hints that the overwhelming hospitality lavished upon them was largely responsible. The manager, Mr L’ercy Day, has sent a letter to each member of the team politely requesting him to be in his hotel not later than 11.15 p.m. each night and to proceed direct to his rooms and not to eu ter the lounge. Players are requested to be m bed not later than 10 p.m. on tln> night before a match and are specially enjoined to smoke and drink as little as possible to ensure fitness. The captain, Phillip Nel, is taking the team for a car ride to the bush in the forenoon next Saturday to enable the players to escape windy people who do nothing but talk Rugby. Nel insists tiiat the players must get away from the football atmosphere. Twenty-seven members of the team had valuable practice yesterday and to-day. They included M. Bester, who is showing no sign of Saturday’s injury.
