CHARGED WITH FORGING VOUCHER
ACCUSED CLAIMS TO HAVE ACTED INNOCENTLY IBv Telegraph - Press Association] PALMERSTON N„ 23rd June. Charges of forging a State Advances Corporation voucher for £2O 10s fcy signing , her name to it with the intention that it be acted upon as genuine, and also stealing the amount named, were preferred against Mrs Alice Hughes, of Karanga, Bunnythorne road, the wife of a farm-hand, in the Magistrate’s Court. Evidence was given that the voucher was intended for Mrs Alice Hughes, of Settlers’ Line, and represented a refund of surplus moneys held under a dairy order. Thp police said that accused in a statement said she thought the money might have been left her by her father’s relatives in England. Accused said in Court that she ac*td innocently. The money wouid he refunded in July.
The accused pleaded not guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Bail was allowed.
