WELLINGTON’S BIG EFFORT Racegoers who will spend several days in Wellington in connection with the forthcoming Race Week will be able advantage of t,ie 1937 Plunkoi It will be held as usual in the Wellington Town Hall, His Excellency the Governor-General having consented to be present with his party, while an outstanding orchestra has been engagedThe decorations will be unusual and promise to exceed by far last year’s wonderful display, Two ballets are being rehearsed while an exhibition dance will also be a feature of the evening. The ladies of the Plunket Society will undertake the catering as usual, so that nothing will be left to chance as far as the .-upoer is concerned. There will be ■he usual drink stall and claret cup will he dispensed free of charge A Pipe Band has been engaged, and after play ing outside the hall will act as a guard of honour to His Excellency, The various committees are hard at work to make the ball the outstanding success of the season. The box office at the D.I.C, Wellington, will be open on 30th June, and reservations can be made at that date, no extra charge being made for reserving seats in the gallery. The tickets are priced at 10s 6d each. Special alcoves are also being arranged under the two galleries, and parties can hire these at the cost of fine guineas each.*
