The Cheltenham by-election, due to the resignation of Sir Walter Preston, resulted: — D. L. Lipson (Independent Conservative) 10,533 Lieut.-Colonel R. TristramHarper (Conservative) 10,194 C. C. Poole (Labour) 5,750
The result of the last election was:— Sir Walter Preston (Conservative), 18,574; Mrs E. Pakenham (Labour), 7,784.
