WROTE TO QUEEN MARY

ROYAL VISIT TO CORONATION PARTY LONDON WOMAN’S DREAM COMES TRUE [From Our Own Correspondent] LONDON, 29th May. Mrs Mollie Comber, of Wood Green, London, spent six weeks organising a children’s Coronation party held in the street in which she has lived for many years. She arranged a great surprise for her guests —a visit from Queen Mary. "I wrote to Queen Mary asking her to come,” Mrs Comber said. "I had a reply from her private secretary It said that she could not promise to visit us, but would try Then, I was told that Queen Mary would definitely be at the party. I told nobody. It was to be a secret—the big big surprise of Acacia road’s Coronation ’deb-a-tions. “I knew that Queen Mary would not fail us. I met her when I was working In a war hospital and I have looked up to her ever since as the ideal of womanhood. When she drove up Acacia road I felt as though a dream had come true. She even seemed to know which was my house, because she gave me a wonderful smile as I stood at the gate.” The Royal car drove slowly past, but did not stop.
