SCOUT MOVEMENT
REORGANISATION WORK . [United Pipsr Association] AUCKLAND, 21st June. The appointment of an almost new executive for the direction of the Boy Scout movement in New Zealand was reported by Mr H. Christie, ActingDominion Chief Commissioner, at a largely-attended meeting at Auckland. He said that the reconstruction work would be slow, but the finance committee was now working under the chairmanship of Sir James Grose, in association with men of prominence in financial circles, and good progress was anticipated. A cabinet of headquarters commissioners of the various branches of Scouting—Cubs, Scouts, Rovers, and Sea Scouts —was being formed, and as soon as finance made it possible Mr J. R. H. Cooksey, Dominion Head of Training, would visit the outlying areas.
“The boy will be our sole consideration,” said Mr Christie. “The changes in organisation and policy will have as their objective the furthering of the welfare of the youth of New Zealand. The charge lies upon us to prepare the boys to fit themselves to assume their tasks in life.”
