The Marketing Department’s advice to the Dairy Board for the week ended 19th Jane is that the London market for New Zealand butter is steady at 110 s to Ills per cwt, ail advance of Is per cwt on the week. Unsalted New Zealand is also up by 1? per cwt, and it quoted at Ills to 112 s. The Danish butter market is also described as steady at 116 s per cwt (spot price), an advance of 2s per cwt on the week. Retail prices are:—New Zealand, Is 2d per lb, an increase of Id per lb; Danish, unchanged at Is 2d per lb. Wholesale prices of other butters are as follows :—Australian, 109 s to 110 s ; Polish (salted and unsalted), 105 sto 106 s; South African, 106 s to 108 s; Dutch (unsalted), 106 s, and 109 s for extra lines; Lithuanian, uusalted, 103 s.

The New Zealand cheese market is quiet at 74s 6d for white and 73s 6d to 74s for coloured. Canadian white and coloured is quoted at 78s to 80s. South African white cheese commands 73s to 755, and coloured 725; also on a quiet market. PRICE AND DELIVERY London average progressive prices for New Zealand dairy produce, as reported by the Marketing Department for the month of May were as follows : Butter (salt), per cwt: 104 s, 106s-107s, 108s-109s, 108 s. Cheese (white), per cwt: 70s, 71s 6d--725, 73s 6d, 745-74 s 6d. Deliveries of New Zealand dairy produce for the period August to May this year, with those of last year shown in parentheses, were as follows: Butter, 88,871 tons (91,557). SUPPLIES FOR BRITAIN British imports of butter and cheese for five months of the calendar year, to 31st May, snow a falling-off when comparison is made with imports from all quarters for the corresponding period of 1936 and 1935.
