THE NELSON UNION MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING DISCUSSION ON CLASSIFICATION LISTS The weekly meeting of the Nelson Rugby Union Management Committee held last evening in L-ock’s room, was attended by Messrs H. M. Richardson (vice-president, in the chair). R. J. Eyre (vice president), D. E. Johnson 9 (treasurer), A. W Mcllwraith (Nelson). R. H. Methven (College), S. Winter (Old Boys). A. Newton (Rival), A. Croucher (Ref'-rces). A S Thomas (Hospital). H McPherson (Rover), E. McGregor (Waimea), R. Brownlie (Piratei A. C Price (Schools;, and F. J Lock (secretary). Messrs J Warren. R Brown, and C Thomas were approved as members of the Referees Association. The Golden Bav-Motueka Union asked if the Nelson Union would object to the Tapawera team playing in the Bay Union’s competitions The request was granted foi tnis season A renewed appliealion by the Pirate Club for reclassification of N. Kearns to junior grade was granted subject to an explanation by the club as to why he played for the junior team follow- _ ing the Union's previous decision not | to reclassify him. 1 The Rival Club applied for the reI classification to junior of D. The chairman said it was a matter which should be given attention to. It was the duty of each club to see that all players were classified. He made an appeal to the clubs to see to the matter. j Mi- Eyre moved that all clubs proj vide new classification lists. | Mr Mcllwraith seconded the motion j and suggested that after next Saturday 3 the Union take action against clubs j playing unclassified players. J Mr McPherson moved an amendment (hat the Union write to ail clubs inI forming them that in future it would I be necessary to have all players on | the classification lists before they took 1 parf in games, otherwise the clubs I would be penalised ! Mr Eyre withdrew ‘his motion in favour of the amendment. Mr McPherson's motion was seconded and carried. It was pointed out that clubs could obtain the present lists from the Union secretary ROVER SENIORS WITHDRAW Mr McPherson (Rover) asked for permission to withdraw the Rover Club’s senior team from the competition on account of the difficulty in securing players. He regretted that it was found necessary to take that | action 1 The Rover request was granted. 1 It was decided that no points be | awarded for the two games forfeited by I the Rover team. I SATURDAY MORNING SCHOOLS’ I COMPETITION | The chairman reported on a eonferI ence with a committee of school teach--1 ers in an effort to arrange a Saturday I morning schools’ competition At the | meeting it was suggested that the Col--1 lege co-operate. I Mr Methven said the College‘would I enter teams and keep under the weight 9 and age limits. However, the College I would not agree to its boys playing I in other school teams. 1 Mr Price thought that it was now up 1 to the primary schools to ascertain the 1 boys who would be available for a | Saturday morning competition. 1 Mr Eyre considered if there were I four teams in the proposed competition 1 it would be enough for a start. I The matter was referred to the schools’ delegate to report on the players available The chairman made reference to the accident at the Park on Saturday, when G, Harris, a Rival junior, broke his leg On his motion, it was decided to write to the player expressing the Union’s sympathy and hoping for his speedy recovery.
