LOAN POLLS NEXT THURSDAY
ELECTORS REQUIRE RATEPAYERS’ QUALIFICATION The loan polls to be taken next Thursday on the Roding water scheme and the 4 purchase of Miller’s section, is a poll of ratepayers. Electors having only a residential qualification are therefore not entitled to vote. Husband and wife have the same qualification. It is believed, however, that there are still a number of ratepayers’ wives whose names do not appear on the roll or appear with only a residential qualification. In such case, a vote may be exercised on the making of the prescribed declaration. The Returning Officer (Mr F. Mitchell) requests that all those w T ho desire to exercise a vote by declaration make application at the Council Chamber where special provision is being made for the handling of such votes. MAYOR TO BROADCAST The Mayor (Mr G. L. Page) will speak over the ail at station 2ZR, tomorrow evening (Tuesday) at 9 o’clock on the subject of the water loan proposal. He will deal yvith questions asked regarding the Roding water proposals and details of the scheme.
