BOWLING
NELSON CLUB SEASON CLOSED ON SATURDAY COMPETITIONS COMPLETED | j The bowling season closed on Saturday on the Nelson Club's green with a friendly “roll up.” The green was heavy, and Ihe fact that only one player appeared in flannels was evidence of doubtful opportunity for play. The competitions have now all been finalised. The Jacka Pairs final ended in favour of J. E. Hume and A. C. Rout <s). When play ceased on the previous Saturday. St. John required five and Rout ten, the odds being in favour of the former. On resuming Rout and his partner were still in a losing position as the game progressed. St. John required to get a score of one to win the game and Rout nine, but St. John could not get the coveted single and Rout, by playing several good shots, succeeded in annexing the competition. The winners of the competition were: J. E. Hume and A. C. Rout (s); runnersup, N. Rout and A. W. St. John (s). In the Lyell Cup finals A. C. White played W. A. Dee. They won a game each, and Dee secured the final third game. The presentation of trophies will take place at the Club House on the 17th May.
