THE VINES MURDER
REPERTORY CLUB’S PLAY “You’ll hang, you fpols! All of you. You’ll hang.” In spite of this warning, Mr J. W. Russell as Eliot Vines in the Repertory Club”s forthcoming production of “Distinguished Gathering” has found himself a corpse nightly during the rehearsals of the play. He is, moreover, a most obliging corpse for he dies not once, but many times, in the course of the evening while the cast assiduously practises every detail of what promises to be the most perfect crime ever committed in Nelson.
There is no doubt that “Distinguished Gathering” will prove the outstanding event in the programme of entertainment arranged for Coronation week. The club is issuing a souvenir Coronation programme to mark the event and anticipates a keen demand for these artistic mementoes of a memorable occasion.
The box plan opens at “Snapshots,” Trafalgar street, on Tuesday morning next. Owing to the very large circle of friends and sympathisers of the club, booking is sure to be. heavy, and those who wish for entertainment that is different during Coronation Week art advised to book early to avoid, regrets.
