TRANS-ATLANTIC AIR RACE
PROPOSED SECURITY PACT ACTION BY BRITAIN CO-OPERATION OF GERMANY SOUGHT [British Official Wireless] (Received Ist April, 2 p.m.) RUGBY, 30th April. As an outcome of the meeting of Mr Anthony Eden (British Foreign Secretary), and M. Van Zeeland (Prime Minister of Belgium), at Brussels, it is understood Britain is making a new approach towards a five-power Western European security pact, hoping Germany might consider co-operation.
OVER 20 MACHINES ENTERED [United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] , PARIS, 30th April. Twenty-two planes have now entered ror the transatlantic race. Italy has five entries and United States three. The American demand for abandonment or postponement of the competition will be considered after the closing of entries on 2nd May.
