SHEEPSKIN, HIDE, AND TALLOW SALES

Dalgetv and Company, Ltd., Wellington, report under date, 30th April, 1937: Hie fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hides, tallow and sundries was held today, a full bench of buyers being in attendance. Sheepskins: A rather sharp fall in values was recorded and a disappointing sale resulted, prices for most grades declining by Id to lgd per lb. The small quantity of salted skins offering showed a corresponding decline. Hides: It was anticipated that the market would show a further drop on last sales quotations and this eventuated, heavy and medium weights being Id to lad lower and yearling and kip to Id lower. Calfskins, however, sold extremely well at about £d advance. fallow: A small offering was submitted, values being slightly easier. The following is the range of prices: heepskins; Halfbred to 17d, fine crossbred 15jd to 17£d, medium crossbred 142 dto 16gd, coarse crossbred 9|d to 16Jd, half wools 10Jd to 17*d, quarter w-.ols 10'd to 15|d, pelts 8d to 11-Jd Salted : Half wools to 6s 9d each, threequarter wools to 3s, lambs to 4s 6d.
