FARMERS’ UNION
WAIMEA BRANCH ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Waimea branch of the Farmers’ Union was held in the club room, Brightwater. The balance sheet was read and adopted. The chairman, Mr Johnston, before vacating the chair read his report, being accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr H. F. Palmer; vicepresident, Mr G. Robinson; the election of second vice-president was held over till next meeting; secretary and treasurer, Mr T. Hayton; auditor, Mr L. M. Palmer; delegates to the provincial conference, Messrs W. Dron and J. Hildyard; social committee, Messrs Palmer Robinson and Hayton. Mr H. F. Palmer, delegate to the Provincial Executive, gave a very able report of the last meeting. A circular from Mr H. De Chamberlain regarding Young Farmers’ Week in Nelson was fully discussed and it was left in the hands of the secretary to interview the President of the Young Farmers’ Club. The matter of holding a special meeting for receiving of remits was left in the hands of the secretary to arrange.
