END IN SIGHT
OF FRUIT EXPORT SEASON TOTAL EXPECTED TO EXCEED GOO,OOO The export of fruit for the 1937 season will virtually finish at the end of this month, although a certain quantity will be shipped for a week after that. Sturmers and Doughertys are the main varieties being handled, with a few Yates and Rokewoods. The Nelson Province export total last year reached 787,000 cases, but it is probable that this season’s figures will not be much in excess of 600,000 cases. For the week ending 23rd April over 54,000 cases of fruit were shipped from Nelson, the total being made up as follows:
Nelson Mapua Motueka Apples Pears Total .. 16,832 — 16,832 .. 16,358 24 16,382 ... 21,414 — 21,414 54,604 24 54,628 The totals Nelson Mapua ....
