SWIMMING
EMPIRE GAMES TEAM TENTATIVE NOMINATIONS [United Press Association] CHRISTCHURCH, 26th April. The following team has been tentatively nominated by the council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association for the British Empire Games at Sydney in February:—
MEN 100 yards free-style: P. Hannan and R. B. Frankham, both of Auckland. 110 yards backstroke: P. E. Matheson (Otago). 220 yards breaststroke: J. C. W. Davies (Taranaki). Nominations will be made for the 440 yards freestyle if any competitors can return a time of 5 minutes 10 seconds or better. In that event, the competitor or competitors nominated will be nominated also for the 650 yards free-style. WOMEN 110 yards free-style: Miss L. Purdic (Otago), Miss N. Ludlow (Auckland). 440 yards free-style: Misses M. Leydon (Auckland), Ludlow, and Purdie. Springboard diving: Miss G. Rix (Otago).
