RETURNING THE COLOURS
AN IMPRESSIVE CEREMONY At the morning service in the Cathedral yesterday the Colours used at theAnzac Service at the Church Steps were replaced with the Usual impressive ceremony. The formula of reception is as follows: “In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost we receive again these Colours of the Nelson, Marlborough and West Coast Regiment for safe keeping in this sanctuary of peace. May the God of nations grant that they may be to us the symbols of loyalty to our Sovereign and of justice among men; and may they never be borne from this place save in the cause of righteousness, truth and honour.”
The Colours were received by the Dean from two officers at the Chancel step, after which the National Anthem was sung.
