BASTION OF PEACE

A STRONG BRITAIN SUPPORT FOR THE LEAGUE COMMENT BY SWEDISH MINISTER • ■ (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, 10th March. Mr R. J. Sandler, Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs, to-day visited the Prime Minister, Mr Baldwin, and was afterwards the guest of the Lord Mayor at a Mansion House luncheon in his honour. In a press statement Mr Sandler made cordial reference to the long friendship between Britain and .Sweden and their many mutual interests. He mentioned that trade exchange between the two countries on the basis of the 1933 agreement had progressed as never before, and this satisfactory development could be expected to continue. Mr Sandler expressed appreciation of Britain’s continued support of the League of Nations and said that if the League was to fulfil its high ideals it was important to remember Mr Eden’s words about the connection between efficiency and elasticity. “I would like to add,” he said, that a strong Britain constitutes a bastion of peace in the world. No feelings of uneasiness can have been caused in my country by the report that Britain is now strengthening her forces. Sandler, and Madame Sandler arrived at Croydon; They will be the guests of the British Government. In addition to talks with Mr Baldwin. Mr Walter Runciman, and Mr R. A. Eden, Mr Sandler will be received by the King. He will visit Paris before returning to Stockholm.
