BIG INCREASE ANTICIPATED
INCOME TAX RETURNS IN U.S.A

Mr H. Morgenthau, Secretary of the Treasury, announced that six million individuals and corporations filed income tax returns for the year 1936, the largest number for the past ten years. He said he expected a national total of 850,000,000 dollars for the first quarter payments, which was 100,000,000 dollars in excess of 1929 and 1930.
