CROQUET

COMPETITIONS AT HAMILTON CONDUCTED BY NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL (United Press Association) HAMILTON, 16th March. The New Zealand Croquet Council’s annual gold and silver mallet competition began at Hamilton to-day. Three lawns at the Whitiora, Hamilton, and Frankton Clubs were in use for the tournament, which is being held in Hamilton for the first time and is for four bisque or under handicap players. The visitors were welcomed by the president of the South Auckland Croquet Association (Mrs L. Totman), and the Deputy-Mayor of Hamilton (Mr 11. D. Caro) officially opened the tournament. Visitors were present from Wellington, Taranaki, and Auckland. The tournament is expected to last for at least a week.
