APPEAL AGAINST VERDICT

LAMBERT—LEVITA CASE (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, 19th December. Sir Cecil Levita has appealed against the verdict of £7500 in favour of Mr Lambert. It was the last day of the period allowed for lodging the appeal. Recently Mr Lambert, editor of the Broadcasting Corporation’s weekly periodical "Listener,” was awarded £7500 damages against LieutenantColonel Sir Cecil Levita for libel. Evidence was given that Sir Cecil cast doubts upon Mr Lambert's sanity and urged that he should be removed from the post Of a governor of the British Film Institute. As a result of the matter being raised in the House of Commons by Mr W. Dobbie, a Labour member, Mr Baldwin, announced the appointment of a Board of Inquiry into allegations that “high personages connected, with the British Broadcasting Corporation ’had attempted to compel Mr Lambert to desist from his action under threat of dismissal.
