NEW POLITICAL ALIGNMENT THREE LEADERS SIGN JOINT DOCUMENT SPLIT IN SOCIALIST LEAGUE PREDICTED (United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, 19th December. “The Herald’’ says that after many discussions a joint document has been officially signed by the leaders of- the Communist party, the I.L.P. and the Socialist League, namely Mr Pollitt, Mr Maxton and Sir Stafford Cripps, creating a united Left Front for the purpose of opposing the official Labour Party and the Government, and resisting Fascism. Other objects, according “Chronicle,” include unrelenting opposition to the new unemployment regulations and the Means Test, and the speedy establishment of a Socialist state. All three bodies, it is stated, will maintain their existing independent identity, but it remains to be seen whether the new alignment will be endorsed by the individual membership of the three bodies. If it is, the “Chronicle” expresses the opinion, it may have an important effect on future British politics. “The Heqild”' predicts that the first result will almost certainly be a serious split in the Socialist League containing many loyal members of the Labour Party.
