CAR SMASHED TO PIECES
OCCUPANTS ESCAPE SERIOUS INJURY (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. Although the body of a large sedan motor-car Which somersaulted and crashed into a fence on the Hutt road in the early hours of Sunday morning was smashed almost to pieces, the four passengers escaped without serious injury. The driver, Mr C. D. MacDonald, accountant, of Island Bay, was taken to hospital suffering concussion and a scalp wound, and abrasions to ,the face__and hands. The accident occurred at 12.25 a.m., about half a mile south of the Petone level grossing. It is believed that a tire was punctured and the driver lost control of * the car. The car swerved on to the cycle track, rolled over for 25 yards and then crashed into a woolen fence protecting the railway line, smashing five posts.
