HOSPITAL BOARD’S DIFFICULTY (United Press Association) INVERCARGILL, 18th December The effect of recent legislation was referred to by the chairman, Mr T. Golden, at the monthly meeting of the Southland Hospital Board. “You will have to keep costs down,” remarked the Mayor, Mr John Miller, when the board’s financial report was being considered. “How can we?” asked the .chairman. “We are trying to keep costs ’ .down, but the legislation is defeating, us. Costs will go up before they come J down. Every local body must be exI periencing the same difficulty. Recent Government legislation is increasing all our overhead costs.”
